Gliwice's city festival returns this week with four days of concerts, art, literature and community events. The main stages will be set up near the iconic Radiostacja, where Bajm will perform on Friday, 4 September, followed by Nosowska on Saturday.
Dni Gliwic run from 3 to 6 September, with activities taking place at several locations around the city. Alongside the headline concerts, the programme includes the Gliwice Literary Award gala, interactive art installations and the annual Senior Picnic in Park Chopina.
For residents, it is a busy final weekend of the summer holidays, with plenty taking place both at the main festival site and elsewhere in the city.
Bajm opens the main concert weekend
Friday's programme at Radiostacja begins at 19:00 with DODO, the winner of the Debiuty w Gliwicach competition. The young rapper will be followed by the local duo Kuba i Kuba at 19:30.
The night's main performance starts at 21:00, when Bajm takes to the stage.
The band, one of the long-established names in Polish popular music, is expected to bring a set built around its best-known songs. For many people in Gliwice, it could provide a suitably nostalgic soundtrack to the last days of the summer season.
The evening continues with DJ sets from Komar and P33, running from 22:30 until 01:00.
The festival area, including the SocialZone, Gastro, Art and Instabox attractions, will be open from 18:00.
Nosowska takes the stage on Saturday
Saturday shifts the musical focus towards one of Poland's most distinctive contemporary performers.
Nosowska will headline the evening at 21:00, following performances by Gliwice musicians Eva Aksamit and 44-100 at 18:00 and vocalist Daniel Godson at 19:30.
The programme then moves into the night with DJ sets from 5cet and P33, from 22:30 to 01:00.
The festival's additional zones open from 17:00, giving visitors the chance to arrive early and spend the evening around the concert area rather than simply coming for the headline performance.
Art, photography and technology around central Gliwice
The music is only one part of this year's programme.
From 3 to 6 September, the BYลO/BฤDZIE project will use archival photographs, interactive technology and artistic installations to explore Gliwice's past, present and possible future.
The installations can be found at Ruiny Teatru Victoria, along a route through the city centre and at Skwer Doncaster.
They are open from 12:00 to 24:00 from 3 to 5 September, and from 12:00 to 18:00 on 6 September.
For visitors who want something quieter between concerts, the installations offer a different way of experiencing parts of the city centre and its history.
Literature takes centre stage at Kino Amok
Friday also brings the second edition of the Gliwice Literary Award.
The gala takes place at Kino Amok at 15:30, with author meetings and a panel discussion featuring Jacek Dukaj, Mariusz Szczygieล, Wit Szostak, Katarzyna Surmiak-Domaลska and Emilia Suลek.
Admission is by ticket.
The literary programme adds another dimension to the festival weekend and means that Dni Gliwic are not confined to the concert site around Radiostacja.
Sunday brings the Senior Picnic
The festival closes on Sunday, 6 September, with the 13th Family Senior Picnic in Park Chopina.
The afternoon begins with a procession departing from the former Dom Tekstylny Weichmanna at 13:45. The programme in the park then includes performances and community presentations.

The picnic runs alongside the wider Dni Gliwic programme and provides a family-friendly way to finish the weekend.
Traffic changes around Radiostacja
Anyone planning to attend Friday or Saturday's concerts should also take note of a temporary traffic restriction.
Ul. Lubliniecka will be closed in sections on 4 and 5 September in the immediate area around Radiostacja.
The restriction is being introduced for the duration of the concerts, primarily to help manage pedestrian movement and keep access to the event area safe.
Drivers heading towards the Radiostacja area should therefore allow extra time and consider alternative routes. Those attending the concerts are encouraged to take the road closure into account when planning their journey.

With the main concerts falling on Friday and Saturday, and the Senior Picnic bringing the festival to a close on Sunday, Gliwice has a full programme lined up for the final weekend of the summer holidays.
